Discounts unclaimed

Older residents who have contributed all their lives are among those least likely to claim the discounts and benefits they're due when their circumstances change.
Broadland DC officers are on hand to help. They can offer friendly and confidential advice about what residents could be entitled to and how to go about claiming. Please encourage residents to contact them on 01603 430602 or benefits@broadland.gov.uk.

Norfolk Highways Engineer Jonathan Winnett and Parish Councillor Bob Grindrod will be at the Church Rooms between 3.30pm and 4,30pm on Thursday 7th December to answer any questions about the proposed Safer Crossing signage on the B1150 at Ling Way. The Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk is consulting on possible increases in the amount of council tax paid to support police services in Norfolk. If you would like to comment, please complete the survey that is available here.

Norfolk County Council is consulting on possible cuts to bus subsidies paid to local bus companies. One of the services that might be affected is the Sanders Sunday/Bank Holiday service (5/5A) between Cromer - North Walsham - Norwich, which goes through the village. Mr Michael Spinks laid a Remembrance wreath at Coltishall War Memorial on behalf of Coltishall Parish Council this afternoon. Despite the inclement weather, many villagers attended the Church Service and marched to the Memorial led by Parade Master Bob Jennings and the Rev. Chris Engelsen. Local police closed off the High Street and also laid a wreath as did the Royal British Legion, Coltishall Brownies, the Coltishall & Horstead WI and The Marlpit community magazine.

The Marlpit is holding its 40th Birthday Celebration on Sunday October 15th from 6p-8pm at the Tithe Barn, Horstead. All are welcome but booking in advance by 5th October latest is essential to ensure that numbers are catered for. You can book by e-mailing magazine@themarlpit.com or by leaving your name and contact details in the Marlpit boxes at the Post Office, Pharmacy or Farm to Fork to Fish. Please indicate if you have been a Marlpit volunteer at any point. Donations to The Marlpit are also welcome.

The Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable for Norfolk took part in a Police Accountability Forum in Aylsham on Tuesday 12th September. The main focus of the evening was on road safety. The papers for this meeting are available here

Norfolk Constabulary has issued its latest newsletter for parishes, including Coltishall, that are supported from Aylsham. The next Public Engagement meeting will be at The Jubilee Family Centre, Norwich Road, Aylsham at 7pm on Tuesday 17th October 2017.

Coltishall Parish Council has today advertised two 'casual vacancies' on the Parish Council following the departure of two of our councillors. If ten electors seek an election by 11th September 2017 then one will be held. Otherwise, the Council will seek to co-opt three new members after that date as a vacancy already exists.

Broadland District Council has issued advice on Parking Issues and Abandoned Vehicles. Such issues have arisen in the Parish recently, and there is guidance on who to call and what to do in each case.

Coltishall Parish Council has initiated its Neighbourhood Plan by formally designating the parish boundary as the 'neighbourhood area' for planning purposes. Click here for a map of Coltishall showing the parish (blue) boundaries.
